Home sweet home! We are home now, we didn’t do much yesterday (Day 7), but I’ll write it here anyway.

Day 7, our last day in Tasmania was an easy going day. We left Swansea just after 10am, and headed to Launceston where we arrived at about 12.30. We had lunch at a Mexican restaurant, then had to fill in time until around 5.30pm when it was time to go to the airport and return the hire car. We walked around the shops, and stopped at coffee shops a bit to fill in the time. We filled in more time at the airport until we boarded the plane at 7.50pm, just surfing the internet on our iPads and drinking more coffee (at least I did, LittleB is not a coffee drinker) and eating snacks. It was a lot of time to fill in, but it felt like it passed quickly.

The flight home was good, we arrived home earlier than scheduled.

I’m getting started on photos now, I am transferring them from my laptop now to my main computer. I should have some Day 1 photos up later tonight, I’ll post a link here when I do.

Today started with a drive to the top of Mt Wellington. From there we had clear views of Hobart and the landscape for many miles, in many directions (Photos soon). The wind was very stong and extremely cold. The wind chill factor certainly had to be below zero degrees celcius, I can hardly remember feeling air so cold in the Swedish Winter. We photographed all of the views as quickly as possible and ran for the car. We were frozen to the core.

I’m updating my blog for yesterday and today. I couldn’t do it last night, I was very tired and had a long sleep instead. I’m really tired again now, I’ll soon be heading off to dinner and suspect I’ll be straight to bed when I get back.

After checking out of the lodge, day 3 soon provided us with the best view of the trip so far – lemonthyme lodge in the rear view mirror, behind the dust of course. I should have taken a photo, it was beautiful.

I am updating the blog with day 2 info today on day 3 of our trip, because we had no 3G reception at all, and no Internet. Today I still don’t have Internet access with my laptop (Optus) but do have Internet with my iPad (Telstra). So using my iPad I can type into my blog, but can’t post photos. Tomorrow night (day 4) I’ll be in Hobart and will be able to post some photos then.

With that out of the way, I can write about day 2!

Very smooth and comfortable flight to Launceston today, we arrived 15 minutes early at 12.30pm. We got a hire car from the airport, somehow the Yaris we’d booked became a Nissan Micra. The car is a bit of a toy, but does have some get up and go. Hopefully we’ll get up the mountains in it. At least it’s in better shape than the car behind it (click photos to enlarge):

I was looking forward to Copenhagen as it was the only place I hadn’t been to, out of the places we were going to visit during our trip. The city is beautiful in many places, but the amount of graffiti there is disgraceful. I suppose every city has graffiti, but the thing about the graffiti in Copenhagen is that it is almost everywhere you look. Normally you see it in some alley, or out of the way area where people aren’t going to easily spot you doing the graffiti, but there is a lot of graffiti in very public areas. It’s inconceivable to think that there weren’t a lot of people witnessing this graffiti being done in such open areas.

Our trip to Copenhagen by train was the only thing we couldn’t book from Australia. We tried, but couldn’t. That almost prevented us from going to Ronneby at one stage, which would have been a huge shame, since we had our best time in Ronneby, and once we were in Ronneby, buying tickets couldn’t have been easier. Especially since Brinck bought them, with LittleB’s money, it was really simple.

Day 1 at Ronneby started when my friend “Brinck” (not his real name ) picked us up from the airport with his Son, Erik. Brinck took us to Ronneby Brunn, the top resort hotel in Ronneby, which also was about the only accommodation available at this time of year. The room was small, and basic. We had no iron or ironing board and no bath (there was supposed to be a bath). The soap in the shower was in a wall mounted soap dispenser which LittleB wouldn’t touch. It looked like hand wash for public toilets, not soap to put on the body. LittleB was angry because the room was not what she expected, yet we were supposedly paying more per night than our room in Stockholm at the 5 star hotel. We found out when we checked out that we were given a cheap room instead of what LittleB booked. We got a basic room, and in the end paid a cheap price. Whilst a lot of people might be happy to do that, LittleB wants to enjoy her holiday in comfort, and that’s fair enough. The room we got made her feel disappointed.

In an hour, LittleB and I will be checking out of our hotel and going to the airport and won’t be home for another day and a half. I didn’t get time to post my Ronneby post, even though it is almost finished. I’ll have to add it when I am back in Sydney, along with the Copenhagen and London posts. London will be a quick post, I have hardly any photos or videos. LittleB and I both find London to be a pretty uninspiring place. I have to get packing, I’ll write again when I am back in Oz!
