Very smooth and comfortable flight to Launceston today, we arrived 15 minutes early at 12.30pm. We got a hire car from the airport, somehow the Yaris we’d booked became a Nissan Micra. The car is a bit of a toy, but does have some get up and go. Hopefully we’ll get up the mountains in it. At least it’s in better shape than the car behind it (click photos to enlarge):
On the subject of photos, I probably won’t post many on the blog each day, because I only have my laptop which doesn’t have a good screen for post-processing images. I just know what I post will look off (exposure, colours etc.). I’ll post something though, maybe random photos like these below, but when I get home I’ll process my photos properly and put them in my album.
I’ve taken a lot of photos. Launceston is a very quiet town on Saturday afternoons. Most of the shops were closed, a lot of streets in the CBD were empty from both cars and people. All of the hotels are booked out here, I would have thought there’d be a lot of tourists wandering around, but it was very quiet.
We walked around the CBD a bit, and the City Park. Tonight we are staying at Peppers Seaport Resort in Launceston.
Tomorrow we’ll take a look at Cataract Gorge before going to Devonport for a quick look around to see what’s there, before driving to Cradle Mountain. Tomorrow night we’ll stay at Lemonthyme Lodge: http://www.lemonthyme.com.au in a 2 bedroom cabin.
HAPPY NEW YEAR Everyone!!!
